Try Chef Jon's Chicken & Dumplings at Bailey's - now through January 17th!

Today, through Thursday, in both Absolutely Fresh Seafood Markets:

Large Snow

Crab
Legs 8.95

Note: I will be cooking these on Channel 3 today (Ch 5 on Cox Cable)
at around 12:15 pm (Thursday, January 7). Recipe at bottom of this email.

Also note: our snow crab clusters are much larger than the ‘pencils’
you often see in the grocery store. ‘Meat fill’ is the key to enjoying crab
legs – the bigger the leg, the more meat inside. There really is quite a bit
more meat as a percentage of the total weight in these larger legs. Plus
they’re just cool.

Steam until hot, since they’re fully cooked in Alaska.

Chef Claude, at our 18th & Leavenworth market wants you to know he has

New
England Flounder on sale for $9.95/lb.

And
Geoff, at the 119th & Pacific store, has Idaho Trout

(COMPLETELY
boneless, butterfly fillets) also at 9.95/lb.

Why are dolphins cleverer than humans?
Within 3 hours they can train a man to stand at the side of a pool and feed
them fish!

- --

A man was stopped by a game
warden in Northern Michigan recently with two
buckets of fish leaving a lake well known for its fishing. The game warden
asked the man, "Do you have a license to catch those fish?"

The man replied to the game
warden, "No, sir. These are my pet fish."
"Pet fish?" the warden replied.
"Yes, sir. Every night I take these here fish down to the lake and let
them swim around for a while. I whistle and they jump back into their buckets,
and I take em home."

"That's a bunch of
hooey! Fish can't do that!"
The man looked at the game warden for a moment, and then said, "Here, I'll
show you. It really works."
"O.K. I've GOT to see this!" The game warden was curious now.
The man poured the fish in to the lake and stood and waited. After several
minutes, the game warden turned to the man and said: "Well?"

"Well, what?" the
man responded.
"When are you going to call them back?" the game warden prompted.
"Call who back?" the man asked.
"The FISH."

"What fish?" the
man asked.

A  man moves into a nudist colony. He receives a  letter
from his grandmother
asking  him to send her a current photo of
himself in  his new  location.

Too  embarrassed to let her know that he lives in a nudist
colony,
  he
cuts a photo in half and mails  it.

The  next day he discovers that he had accidentally sent
the
  bottom
half of the photo. He's really worried but then
 remembers
how bad his grandmother's eyesight is,
  and
hopes she won't  notice.

A  few weeks later, he receives a letter from his Grandmother.
It  says: "Thank you for the picture.
Change  your hairstyle... it makes your nose look too short."

Love,  Grandma

Steaming Crab Legs

Feeds 4

4 lbs frozen crab legs

1 stick butter (or use clarified butter)

garlic, chopped (or garlic powder)

In a large stock pot (with lid), pour in enough water to
cover the bottom of the pot to a depth of ½ inch. If you have a steamer tray or
basket, that’s great. If you don’t, not to worry. You’ll have no trouble.

Place crab legs in pot, and cover. Steam on high heat for
about 12 minutes. Remember…..all we’re doing is bringing the crab legs up to
temperature. They were already cooked on the boat in Alaska.

While steaming the crab legs, melt the stick of butter,
and add just a smidgen of garlic. No, not two smidgens; just one
J

Enjoy with a salad and garlic bread. Or pasta is good too.
Chardonnay isn’t such a bad idea, either!

[Remember: these
crab legs are cooked on the boat in Alaska.
All you need to do is heat ‘em up. Steaming is great because it keeps the meat
moist. Do not immerse in liquid, or cover them up with water, or even boil
them. Three ways to say DON’T BOIL
OUT THE FLAVOR AND TEXTURE!]
